If you don’t me I’m a YouTuber and I talk primarily about
the New England Patriots but I do chat about other sports too from time to
time. One thing that I learned a long time ago is that no matter what you do
not everybody is going to like you, and if you make YouTube videos and develop
any kind of following you are going to attract trolls, that’s just the way it
is.
Now I’m going to be honest, they used to bother me. But over
the last couple of months and I had the time to reflect on things I started to
realize that having trolls isn’t that bad of a thing. If you are a YouTube and
you have gotten to the point where you have people taking the time out of their
day to troll you, then you’re doing something right. The only mistake I occasionally
make now is engage with them, not because they bother me, more because in order
to enrage them you sort of have to stoop to their level and it’s the image that
I’m trying to portray, so I have made a now to myself not to engage with them
anymore.
Here’s the thing, if you are a YouTuber then view counts and
minutes watched are important. Every time a troll clicks on your video just to
talk some smack that is a positive for your overall analytics. Don’t even be
upset that they gave you a thumbs down, because the people that really enjoy
your content will give you the thumbs up and it will balance out. I have two
trolls that click on every single one of my videos and leave some sort of
comment about how I’m awful and they wish I would go away. My question is; “If
you hate me so much, why do you keep watching my videos?” I watch a lot of
YouTube and when I don’t enjoy somebodies content I stop watching it. I don’t
watch every single video they put out just to leave a negative comment, because
my life does not allow me to look for things I don’t enjoy, I spend my life
doing things I like.
So, if you’re being trolled don’t sweat it, because these
are people who have literally nothing better to do with their life then go on
YouTube and troll….When you really think about it…..I kind of feel sorry for
them.
